My First Cardigan

I am working on knitting my first cardigan ever, really my first sweater ever. I normally just make up my own accessories, I never go off a pattern, so this has been a new experience for me. It's actually been really fun, and I can't wait to wear it.
I'm making this cardigan in turquoise, without any buttons. We'll see how it turns out. I found the pattern, for free, on this great website. You can get a ton of free vintage knitting patterns there. Enjoy, I can't wait to finish this one and see how it turns out, then make another one!!!!

OH, and to be honest, I got the inspiration from the movie Edge of Love. I have been waiting for it to come out, and I have been looking at a bunch of pictures from the movie, and the girl's clothes are so CUTE, and hello, look at their cardigans! PS: I will be out of town starting tomorrow, and I'll be back Tues., so enjoy your weekend.

The Lyra Legwarmers

The Golden Compass Movie

Lets all put on our Lyra Legwarmers and take a trip to Svalbard. Who's with me??? If you have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm referring to the movie The Golden Compass, which is great. I am currently reading the trilogy by Philip Pullman His Dark Materials.
The Golden Compass is the first book in the trilogy. If you haven't read it, check it out, it's really imaginative, and you'll feel like you're on a great adventure the whole time. I just posted The Lyra Legwarmers onto Etsy today. They are super warm and soft, and will be perfect for someone who loves cold weather adventure.

On a different note, I thought I would let everyone know that I am finishing up my Bachelors Degree online. I have 135 college credits already, but no Bachelors to show for it, just an Associates of Art Degree. So.... long story short, I am going to get my B.A. in Early Childhood Education. It should only take me one more year, and I'm super excited. So you might see a lot more Early Childhood links and info coming soon, but I am still going to continue with my knitting and crocheting. Here are a few great sites I found the other day regarding Early Childhood Education, parenting, etc. Great for parents and teachers alike.

The Anya Scarflette

I have started making some new Fall scarflettes, and here is the newest creation, The Anya Scarflette, and I just loaded it onto Etsy. I have a bunch of new legwarmers too that I will be loading on in the near future.
My Forest Cowl was featured in a blog yesterday and you can check it out HERE
I have also been shipping some of my accessories to a store called Bento in Honesdale, PA. They just opened and they seem to be doing really well. If you check out her flickr site you will see that it's like walking into a real live Etsy store. My dream come true, I only wish I lived closer so I could go shopping there. She hasn't posted any pictures of my accessories yet, but as soon as she does, I will post it here. The way she displays the merchandise is really creative and intriguing. Enjoy your day!

Pixie Update

My Pixie haircut

Growing out pixie

If you will remember back to the beginning of this blog, I talked about cutting my hair into a pixie hairstyle and I posted some pictures. Well it's been growing out, and I was recently searching for cute haircuts ideas for a growing out a pixie. Which everyone said would be very painful, but so far I haven't found it to be that way. I searched and searched for pictures and ideas, and really found nothing, except for a small mention of cutting the back neck area.

My hair was starting to get a little flippy at the back, which was cute, except that it would also lay flat and was beginning to look like a dreaded mullet. So I cut the back and voila, new cute hairstyle, at least better, in my opinion, than a mullet. I am personally a very LOW maintenance girl, and hate doing anything with my hair, hence the pixie haircut, so in order for my growing out bangs to look a little less awkward, I just pin them to the side, and that seems to do the trick. I'm sure gel, or some sort of cream would work as well, but what did I say, LOW maintenance. It works for me at least, and hopefully now it can just grow for awhile, until it needs a little more trimming in the back. So this post is for anyone out there that had the same questions about growing out a pixie that I did.

Who knows, maybe I'm the only one, but there it is!

The Rhiannon Shawl

This is The Rhiannon Shawl that I just loaded onto Etsy. The top picture is my shawl that I made for myself as a little treat. These shawls are so versatile. I love how many ways you can wear them. I like wearing mine wrapped around my neck when I get a little chilly, as you can see from the pictures.
Keep checking back, I made another shawl last night that I will be posting soon. Have a good one!

New Mittens

The light was so amazing while we were out walking the other night, and then we got to witness the most gorgeous sunset, and a double rainbow.
Here are a pair of new fingerless mittens that I just loaded on Etsy. They are called The Serene Fingerless mittens. I am trying to load more and more on each day, but I have a cold, so I'll do what I can. Happy Fall!!!
